The changes that the new way of working will have on businesses post Covid-19 is still to be determined, however, some of the changes are already being experienced. During the lockdown period, interaction with the outside world continued and people found very creative ways of learning, working and interacting with others.
Despite the obstacles and challenges that Covid-19 has created for our way of life on this planet, it has also forced us to consider new ways of working and living. There has no doubt been opportunities for businesses to consider within these challenging times. The slow loosening of restrictions will mean that for businesses and individuals this will remain a reality for a while still.
Here are a few areas, we believe, will never want to go back to the way things were. The financial benefits and the improvement in the quality of life questions the way we functioned pre-Covid-19.
Corporate Training
Companies spend millions on training their staff every year. For many businesses this forces employees to spend time away from work causing loss of productivity. However, companies will now realise the cost saving benefits online training provides.Staff members will also benefit from flexible training hours that can be delivered online and completed at the convenience of the employee.
Education
The Lockdown period has also forced teachers to learn new skills in order to deliver learning material and content to students.
Higher Education institutions have been moving toward online education as a solution to deal with the increased demand for quality education. Moocs (Massive Online Open Courses) started years ago in order to cater for this demand.
However, schools have been slow to embrace online learning in the same way in which universities have done. Covid 19 has changed this, for the most part teachers have embraced technology, in a rather short time, to ensure they provide quality education to students.
Students and parents have taken to technology with enthusiasm, and in the process seem to be taking more responsibility for their own learning.
It may yet be early days , however, Covid-19 may just have provided the education system with the kickstart it required to change the way children learn.
.
This change, in the way in which students learn and teachers teach, will have many in the education field wondering about the opportunities to provide a better form of education. In the future, many ways of educating and learning could spring from this shift.
Work from home
With businesses being forced to apply “work from home” conditions for staff during the Lockdown period, it’s inevitable that the new ways of working will continue for much longer. With limited contact being a government enforced practise, work from home strategies will have to be in place for a long time to come, and it will very possibly become a permanent part of working.
Companies will save on petrol allowances and in some cases might even re-look the renting of premises.
Employees will also realise the benefits of working from home eg. not spending hours in traffic. Time saved in traffic can be used to learn new hobbies and improve the quality of life.
Online Courses
Online Courses are growing by the numbers everyday. Skills that people have taken for granted are being turned into courses that can be monetised and offered to interested persons.
The range of courses varies widely, with skills that help you survive and live independently.
These courses are certainly going to continue to change the way in which people generate income and learn new skills.
